Vera Wang Claims Unusual Diet Keeps Her Youthful In Her 70s
Fashion guru Vera Wang leaves jaws dropping every time with her ever-youthful appearance. The bridal wear designer, who is known for dressing up brides like Ariana Grande, Vanessa Hudgens, Mariah Carey, Victoria Beckham, and Kim Kardashian, will be 75 in June. However, she hardly looks a day over 50.
Vera has been generous enough to share what diets and lifestyles help maintain her ageless appearance, in addition to favorable genes and financial comforts. While speaking with BBC 100 Women last year, she shared her surprisingly simple secrets and outlook on life.
Vera Wang opens up about her diet that keeps her looking young
Unlike most famous women who try to slow down the changes that come with aging through cosmetic procedures, Vera simply embraces the process and maintains a positive outlook. “It’s very complimentary, and I am very grateful for that,” she said, adding that she has often been asked, “What are my secrets?”
The former figure skater explained that her years in fashion contributed significantly to her perspective on beauty and aging. “I’ve been in fashion since I was 19 years old. Not in front of the camera, behind it. I never thought about youth, probably because I work with the most beautiful women in the world on a daily basis,” she explained. “Because of that I more envision them as my muses, and maybe it’s a way of dealing with aging that is productive.”
While speaking with Page Six Style, Vera opened up about her diet ironically consisting of sugary fast food and snacks. “I do eat McDonald’s, absolutely. I order it every day, like two weeks on it, and then I’ll change,” she noted, adding that she also loves Dunkin’ Doughnuts’ cream-filled, sugar-coated donut.
“It’s like a jelly donut, but it’s cream inside, vanilla cream. I like the pink with sprinkles, too,” the mother of two added.
She also eats “sashimi with brown rice and vegetables, Chinese steamed broccoli with chicken and rice, or the artichoke salad or fish from Sant Ambroeus,” and “at one point I was eating a slice of Ray’s pizza every day, and I never gained a pound on it. It’s not a bad thing if you squeeze out that excess oil. It’s so filling.”
Although she seems to have a controversial “anti-aging” diet, Vera drinks only water since ditching Diet Coke six years ago. However, she does not joke around with her vodka and “magic elixir. “I always said that vodka cocktail, a lot of sleep, but work— work is the magic elixir,” she quipped.
