Blue Bloods promo teases tension between the Reagan family
“Forgive Us Our Trespasses” – Danny and Baez team up with Danny’s old partner, Jackie Curatola (Jennifer Esposito), to find a copycat killer emulating murders from a previous case. Also, Frank and Mayor Chase (Dylan Walsh) battle over how best to handle the city’s rising homeless population; and Jamie, Eddie and Erin team up to build evidence against a previously released man who they believe is again committing criminal assault, on the 13th season finale of BLUE BLOODS, Friday, May 19 /
The Reagan family is more often than not a unified front. They know that they are stronger as a unit than they are as individuals, which is what makes the instances in which they’re bickering among each other all the more shocking. The promo for the new episode presents one of these instances.
The episode in question is titled “Wicked Games,” and the promo reveals that Erin Reagan-Boyle (Bridget Moynahan) decided to negotiate a deal with outside law enforcement in which she let a notorious killer out on the streets early. Fans can assume that Erin had a good reason for doing so, but this is lost on the rest of her family.
Erin lets a serial killer back on the streets
Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), is horrified to discover that he was not made aware of this early release, and confronts his daughter about the decision. “You sure didn’t handle this very well,” he tells Erin at the tail end of the promo.
Danny (Tom Selleck) and Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) are even more frustrated with their sister. The latter can be seen pursuing the killer through the city, and Danny can be overheard fuming about the danger that the guy poses to civilians. “This guy’s a serial killer,” he asserts. “How could you let him back on the streets?!”
The killer targeted Maria Baez in the past
“Irish Exits” – Frank worries about his longtime friend Lenny Ross (Treat Williams) when he suspects the former officer is hiding his true reason for returning to the city. Also, Danny and Baez investigate when Baez and her daughter are targeted by a criminal Baez once put away; Eddie gives her partner, Badillo, relationship advice when his ex-girlfriend is physically attacked; and Anthony is sucked into the inner workings of an underground crime ring when his chaotic cousin, Joey, begs him for /
The official synopsis for “Wicked Games” reveals even more harrowing information about the killer in question, namely his connection to Danny’s partner, Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez):
“Danny and Baez are on edge when Sam Evans, a serial killer who once targeted Baez and her daughter, is released early from prison; Jamie and Anthony team up on an investigation involving one of Anthony’s criminal informants.”
The timing of the Erin and Danny tension is ironic given that the actors who play them recently talked about their friendship on The Drew Barrymore Show. Moynahan praised Wahlberg for being one of her biggest supporters, and encouraging her to direct episodes of Blue Bloods.
Here’s hoping the two of them mend their differences onscreen and put the criminal behind bars (or perhaps even something more permanent).
