NCIS star Pauley Perrette begs for two things after a ‘homeless man’ brutally attacks her
NCIS star Pauley Paulette has made a name for herself on the beloved crime drama by portraying the sassy goth-dressed forensic scientist character, Abby Sciuto.
Irrespective of the success that Pauley saw on the show, she still faced real-world hardship that affected how she perceived life. Unfortunately in 2015, a homeless man assaulted the small screen notable, almost beating her to death. Although the attack greatly affected Pauley, the entertainer used her platform to address issues within the homeless community and called for police to get more assistance.
Pauley’s horrific assault happened outside of her Hollywood Hills home as she was heading to a guesthouse so she could meet with her architect.
Eventually, her assaulter was identified to be 45-year-old David Merck, according to Fandom Wire. David punched Pauley in the face, pinned her down, and threatened to murder her. Pauley opened up about the scary ordeal in an interview.
“On my street, I was jumped by a VERY psychotic homeless man,” she said. “He grabbed me so forcefully, pinned my arm, punched me…repeatedly telling me he was going to kill me.”
She explained that the assailant only freed her when she began praying in front of him. Once he let her go she ran, but ended up collapsing on the sidewalk. However, she was able to text a couple of her friends, one of who was a cop. Additionally, she also sketched the attacker as he was moving toward Hollywood Boulevard.
Pauley’s cop buddy was able to trace the man to a 7-Eleven convenience store at Cahuenga Boulevard and Yucca Street, where David was arrested on felony charges. Even though Pauley was brutally beaten, she bares no ill will to her attacker.
“We need full mental health care. We need housing and help for the homeless,” she said in an interview with Nicki Swift. “We need to support our cops. We need to not walk alone.” She added: “My heart breaks for the guy, and it breaks for every single person that’s out there on the streets.”
Pauley left the role of Abby in 2018, leaving the show after 15 years. She had been with NCIS since the show debuted in 2003.
